Self care is one of those things that tends to get pushed to the end of my to do list. Running my own business and working from home usually means that my to do list is growing and not getting smaller. As many of you can relate, it is so easy to get caught in a habit of constantly being on the go and never really taking a moment to breathe. But sometimes you just have to take a minute to sit back and relax. Here are a few tips to help you start incorporating some time for you into your schedule.
Set Up a Morning Routine
Giving yourself some time in the morning to focus on just you is so important. Don't jump right into your day by working on your laptop or scrolling through your feed. Take some time to really wake up, stretch, make yourself a delicious breakfast, etc. Give yourself a little bit of time in the morning to pamper yourself before jumping into your busy day. I always try to sit at my table and drink my morning tea in silence for a few minutes.
Sweat a Little
Not only will adding workouts to your week make you feel better mentally but it will also help physically. It will give you that time to sweat out any stress you may be feeling, as well as give you time to focus on your body and make yourself strong! You only have one body so be sure to treat it well.
Schedule It In
You schedule meetings with everyone else, why not schedule time for you? Whether you want to take that spin class, read a good book or set up a coffee date with your best friend, schedule that time into your week. You would never miss a meeting for coworkers and clients, so be sure not to miss a meeting with yourself! (this has helped me tremendously in balancing a work-life balance!)
Clean Out Your Closet
This is one of my favorite ways of self care! I tend to hold on to old clothes and then I am constantly annoyed that I have nothing to wear with a closet full of clothes. I love decluttering because sometimes holding on to too many things in a small space can make me feel tressed out, cramped, and worst of all unmotivated. It helps my space feel more organized and it makes me feel good donating to others!
