Ms. C. recently came to me to do a boudoir session as her wedding gift for her soon-to-be hubby. She knew it was something that he would never expect and of course something that he would absolutely love. But what usually starts as a gift for someone else, quickly turns into more of a gift and an experience for my clients, just as this lovely lady discovered. From the lingerie shopping to the session itself - she loved every single moment of it! Read below for her take on the shoot:
What made you decide on doing a boudoir session?
I wanted to do something special for my fiancé, something that he would never expect and make him even more excited about our wedding day. At first it was just for him but it has also been a surprise gift for myself. It made me feel a lot more confident and proud of myself.
How did you decide on what to wear? Did you bring any meaningful accessories? Did the Pinterest board created for you help?
I had an idea of what I wanted to wear already but then I really used the Pinterest board to find where to buy everything and what would look good on me. I didn’t bring anything meaningful because I wanted it to be all new and a surprise.
Let's talk about the day of the shoot. Were you nervous before arriving? How did you feel being in front of the camera?
I was definitely nervous that morning but also really excited. Once I got there I was definitely still nervous but more excited. I was so surprised how fast I felt comfortable in front of the camera. Annika makes it so much fun and so comfortable. She truly wants you to look amazing and feel amazing and she definitely achieves that.
Tell me about the experience you had during the session. Were the poses what you expected? Did you have fun?
It was such a fun day! I want to do it again for sure, especially now having experienced it. The poses were not always super easy but Annika shows you every pose and guides you through it starting with easy ones and then getting more difficult. It was SO MUCH FUN! And goes by so fast.
I always have to ask, were you sore the next day from the poses?
Yes!! My back and calves were so sore haha. I guess I don’t really point my toes and arch my back that much in day to day life!
What were your first thoughts when you saw your images? Have you noticed a mental shift in the way you view your body since doing the shoot?
I was so scared to see my pictures; thinking I wouldn’t like any of them or be super critical of myself and my body. When I saw them I was so happy and immediately more confident in myself. Annika brings out your confidence and beauty in the images. I saw my best self in the pictures. During the shoot I never worried what I looked like because I was so confident that it was beautiful. I could NEVER have predicted that, I’m very shy and can tear myself apart but this experience changed that for me. I wish I could do it every week haha!
Do you have any advice or tips for ladies who are thinking about doing a session?
DO IT!! Seriously, stop thinking about it or worrying about the cost. It is so worth it, everyone should have this experience at least once in their life!
What was your absolute favorite part of this experience?
Definitely the gift of the experience. Not only am I going to shock and amaze my soon to be husband but it was such a gift to myself as well.
Thank you so much!! You’re amazing at what you do and I can’t wait to find another reason to have another session haha
