Boudoir is such a personal experience. Each one of my client sessions have been completely different from one another, and each session always has it's own personal meaning to it. Every person I shoot has their own style and taste, and their partners have their own tastes as well. Therefore it is really important to get to know your client before photographing them. With formal meetings not as popular, it can be hard to get to know them within your first few interactions. Whether it is over the phone, by email or even a quick coffee shop meeting, make sure you go out of your way to get to know them!
Think about your process. How do you on-board a client? Do you have an easy system in place to get to know your client during the booking process?
You can put together a questionnaire for clients to fill out on their own, or even do a separate meeting just to get to know them. All of these things will help your client feel more comfortable with you because not only are you getting to know them better but vice versa as well. You want them to feel comfortable and confident the day of the shoot.
Be sure to ask them questions about their vision for the session, what types of lingerie they like, what their favorite colors are, etc.
Find out if they have any insecurities about their body. All these things are important to know ahead of time because it will help you plan out the session better. The goal is for the client to absolutely fall in love with their photos so don't be afraid to ask questions!
Really take the time to get to know them and what they are looking to get out of the session. It will only help you in the long run. A happy confident client will buy more than a self-consciousness client.
