The holidays always seem to be the craziest time of year for us photographers. From holiday celebrations to rush orders, the to do list always seems to be growing longer and longer. While I love the holidays, it can be such a stressful time of year making sure that you are getting all of your client work done and celebrating with friends and family at the same time. With the never ending feeling of trying to get all the things done, it's important to practice some self care during this time. Not only will you probably be more productive when it comes to work, but it will make you feel so much better and less stressed. Here are a few helpful tips to ensure you are practicing self care this holiday season.
Checking In Mentally
Try to check in weekly or even daily if needed with yourself. How are you feeling mentally? Are there any tasks or people that tend to bring you down after? Make a mental note of what makes you feel worse and try to either stay away from those people or get those tasks outsourced or done as soon as possible. But, make sure you are taking note of what is making you feeling great! Try to surround yourself with tasks and people that bring you up, not down.
Schedule It In
It's more important as ever to be scheduling in some me time each week. You are probably a little pressed for time this season so it's even more important to put that time in your schedule. Taking some time just for you will help you be more productive and make you feel like the best version of yourself.
This is the best time of year for all the sweet treats but try to fuel yourself with healthy and nourishing foods. When you are eating a lot of indulgent foods you will find yourself have a lot of sugar crashes and not feeling like the best you. From being tired to craving even more sugar, there are a lot of side effects from eating a lot of sugary and snacky foods.
Ask For Help
You don't have to do it all alone! Whether you have an assistant to help you with your to do list or friends that will help you with Christmas shopping, don't be afraid to just ask for a little help. It can be hard to try and accomplish everything on your own all the time but it's okay to ask for help!
