When we get towards the end of the year, life gets hectic. not only are we gearing up for the holidays and taking time off, but we are probably squeezing in too many clients, staying up late editing and putting off gift shopping to last minute. Does this sound familiar? I am definitely guilty of all of these. With a new year comes our favorite season, tax season! Staying organized the end of the year will help you from your head spinning and save you from stressing so much. Here are a few of my favorite tips to help keep you organized towards the end of the year.
Receipts can be so messy and I feel like they get everywhere, so fast. I recommend staying organized with your receipts from the get go. Dedicate a binder or envelope for just your business receipts. This will keep you from searching high and low before your going to meet with your CPA. It will also help you if you have to return anything because you'll know exactly where your receipts are. Find a routine that works best for your receipts and be sure to start the new year off with that! You will thank yourself at the end of the year.
I recommend tracking your income and your expenses not only for tax season but it's good to know your numbers. If you are setting income goals, it's important to know how on track you are with each quarter and each year. Is your business growing? Is something hurting your business more than it's helping? It will help you so much at tax time and you won't be stressing trying to do it at the end of the year. If you hate keeping track of everything, hire someone to help you out! The expense will be well worth it for you.
It may seem like a no brainer but it's important to keep all of your important business documents together. Try your best to keep all of your business things organized and together because if you need anything last minute, you will want to know where to at least look first. Try to keep that same mindset when it comes to your computer. Create different folders that you can keep your client images in, and for each year, etc. Knowing where to look for things is important because you don't want to waste time searching for things when you can be editing, meeting with clients, and planning on how to grow your business!
What are your favorite ways to stay organized? The end of the year can be stressful and overwhelming. Staying organized is so important because it's already a crazy time of year. You don't want to add any pressure to yourself by losing important documents or any client files.
