Running your own business means wearing a lot of different hats during throughout the day. If you are a solopreneur, most likely you are the boss, the photographer, the customer service rep, the accountant and even the marketer. Working for yourself is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do, but it's easy to get run down and burnt out after hustling day in and day out. Getting burnt out can be a risk for your health and your business. Here are a few easy tips to help avoid burnout.
Setting Work Hours
It's easy to get caught up in working nights and weekends when your to do list is a mile long. It may be hard to do at first but try setting work hours for yourself. For the next few weeks, I recommend sticking to them! It will help you get into a routine and get used to shutting down at a certain time. Of course, some days you may work later than others but give yourself time to enjoy life outside of your work day - I promise your business will not go crumbling to the ground the minute you step away!
Planning Your Week
I love taking some time at the beginning of the week to plan out my week. I think about my big projects that need to be done, the little everyday things and even set a few goals for the week. Writing everything down and planning out certain days of the week to do things will help you plan out editing and shoot days. Underestimating the timing of projects leads to long nights at the office and can easily lead to burn out!
Getting Out Of the Office
Sometimes, you just need to get out of your office! I work from home so it's so easy to want to wander into the living room and throw on Netflix. If you are feeling like a hermit, head to your local coffee shop or cafe to get a little work done. It's a fun way to get some work done in a different environment.
