Blogging has become a huge part of my business. It’s a great way to talk about things that are going on at the studio and within my business, sharing my knowledge and of course – talking about my amazing clients and showing off their beautiful sessions! But, you may not realize how much work goes into blogging behind the scenes. Not only are you writing and editing but there are photos to create, social platforms to share them on and brainstorming the next great idea. With all of the work that goes into my blog posts, I have found that my favorite way to share them with my audience is through Pinterest.
If you’re like me, you may spend way too much time scrolling on Pinterest. Who doesn’t love it, right?! You can absolutely still keep that account but you want to make sure you switch to a business account and you clean up your pins a bit. Are they on brand? Will your audience love those boards? If not, don’t worry! You can still keep them put just switch them over to secret boards.
After you create your blog post, think about what kind of image you want to share on Pinterest. Think about your brand and what colors your target audience loves to click on. By creating an enticing image, your audience is more likely to click on the pin leading straight back to your blog post. You can even create multiple images to see which ones speak more to your audience.
Keep in mind that Pinterest is more of a search engine than a social platform. This is why it is so important to be sharing your blog posts on there! Just liking Google, consumers are searching for so many different things on Pinterest and it is the perfect place for your content to be found. Search engines can be stressful because there are so many things to think about when it comes to search engine optimization but think about those pin descriptions when you are sharing your next blog post. You want to choose words that someone would be searching for.
When you are trying to grow your account, be sure to be staying active! No one can share once or twice throughout the year and expect to be the next big thing. You won’t get the results that you are hoping for. Not everyone has the time to pin each and everyday so I highly recommend finding a scheduler that works for you. From Buffer to Tailwind, there are a bunch of different programs that will help you schedule your pins ahead of time.
Think about the different types of content that your target audience loves. Pin your own content as well as content from creators that you admire and your audience can really benefit from. Be sure to add value to the platform and I promise, Pinterest will take good care of you! It may seem overwhelming at first but it is such a great tool to show off your amazing content.
If you haven't started sharing your blog on social media yet, I highly recommend starting! Growing your blog is a great way to grow your business. Pinterest is a great tool that many business owners are not taking advantage of. I'd love to find out how you are using Pinterest to grow your blog!
