You've probably heard everywhere that having a newsletter list is crucial to your business. While there are definitely a lot of other things that are just as important, I have to agree that having a newsletter can really change your business. Being able to be in someones inbox is a privilege that most companies don't have. Having someone sign up for YOUR newsletter not only means that they are interested in your company, but they want to hear from you again and again. They are interested in what's going on behind the scenes and what updates you may have for them. If you don't have a newsletter yet, definitely start thinking about creating one! It will absolutely change your business.
Your Own Experience
Think about newsletters that you love to read. Which ones do you open again and again? Why is that? Start taking notice within your own inbox. Keep track of the newsletters you read religiously and the ones that you unsubscribe too. It may seem silly but really think about what makes you love one and not the other. These little tidbits can help you when you are creating your very own newsletter.
A Special Invitation
I like to think of newsletters as a special invitation into your target audiences' internet home. Their inbox is sacred to them. They don't give their email address to just anyone. You want to give them a reason to stay subscribed to your newsletter so think about how you can make this a special experience. How are you different from your competitors? Why do people come to you? Think about how you can make this relationship with them worth while. Don't forget to respect that as well, you don't want to bombard them with emails day after day.
Like I said before, you want to give your readers a reason to open up that newsletter. You want to give them a reason to stay subscribed to you. Make sure that within each newsletter you are packing it full of value. Whether you are offering special discounts or giving them behind the scenes info, make sure it is something that your target audience is going to love. Freebies are also a great idea! Again, make sure that the freebie is on brand and is something that your target audience is going to benefit from.
