Branding Mistakes To Avoid As A Photographer

Branding is so important for any business owner, even a photographer! Having a solid brand will not only help you make better decisions but will help you take your company to the next level. When you are first starting out, branding can seem really confusing. As you make many business and brand decisions, you will learn more about what it takes to create the brand you’ve been wanting. Every new business owner has stumbled along the way, but the more years you have under the belt, the more you will learn! As you get more clients, you will have a better understanding about the brand you ultimately want to be. Here are a few tips to help you avoid making simple branding mistakes.

Inconsistency

Inconsistency is an easy mistake to make. When it comes to just about anything you want to do in business, consistency is key, especially branding! Make sure that all of your wording, your tone of voice, and your visuals are all consistent with the brand you are creating. The more consistent you can be, the stronger your brand will be over time. If you are changing your colors and your message everyday, it will absolutely confuse your clients. It may even confuse you! Confusing your clients will make them not want to book with you and even if your work is good, they may not recommend you to friends.

Another thing to think about is your social media platforms. Be sure you are just as consistent on those platforms as you are in your other messaging. Every piece of marketing you produce should have the same message and vibe.

Target Audience

One mistake a lot of business owners make is not knowing or having a target audience. When you are trying to market to everyone, you’re marketing to no one. Everyone is so different and you really want to think of your dream client and narrow in on that niche. It will make your branding and business decisions that much easier. Instead of wondering what to do next, you will know what your clients need from you. The better you can understand your target audience, the better that your audience will respond to your brand.

Standing Out

Social media has completely changed how many people do business. It’s important to stand out among all that noise on social media and make yourself be different from the rest. It may seem like a no brainer to keep doing what everyone else is doing but honestly, you will just blend it. You want your brand to stand out among the rest. Think of ways that make your brand and your talent different from other boudoir photographers and really capitalize on that!

If you don’t have your brand all figured out on day one of your business, that’s okay! You can make minor tweaks and changes as you go. There may be bumps in the road but that is completely normal!
