All About Engaging On Instagram

If you are in Instagram at all, you have probably heard about engaging with your audience. It may seem time consuming and a step that isn’t quite necessary. While every business is different, I highly recommend spending some time each week engaging with your followers and potential clients. Not only is it great for the Instagram algorithm but your engaging with the people who already love your business. I have gotten so many new clients from Instagram and it’s been from creating relationships with them. It’s important to make your clients feel like you care about them. Here are a few tips to help you engage on your own Instagram account!

Dedicate Time Each Day Or Week

One way to make it a little bit less time consuming is to set aside an amount of time that you know can dedicate each day or week. Be sure that when you set aside this time, you are going on Instagram to specifically engage, not browse your feed. It can be hard to get distracted by stories and scrolling but go into it being mindful of that. You absolutely do not have to dedicate hours to it but even 20 minutes a day can make a difference. Do what you can! Schedule it into your calendar and see how it effects your account. There is nothing wrong with starting off slow and adding more time to it over time.

Engage With Your Followers

You may be thinking that you should only be engaging with people who don’t currently follow you. While that is important for growing your account, it’s also important to engage with the people that already follow you for a reason. Getting your followers more engaged with your account is never a bad idea. It allows you to get to know them and form connections. They may be following you because they want to do a boudoir session in the future. Forming a relationship with them may entice them to book that session even sooner!

Be Genuine

Have you ever been on Instagram and seen a really sad or emotional caption and a comment that says wow, great content?! It’s pretty obvious that the commenter did not read that caption at all. It’s so important to be as genuine as possible. You don’t want to be known as someone who is just commenting to comment. It’s so important! Try to ask questions and start a conversation, a good rule of thumb to go by is to stick to around 5 words!

Start Conversations

Engaging is all about starting conversations and making relationships! Social media is all about being social and I think a lot of people forget that. Don’t be afraid to ask questions on other people’s photos as well as your own photos. Captions are a great place to ask questions and entice your followers to answer in the comments.

Be Active After Posting

You may not realize but due to the algorithm, being on your account right after you post is one of the best times to respond to comments. Not only does it show your followers that you are great at responding but more people may even see the photo because Instagram will see it as a popular post.

Engaging on social media is so important. Not only is it great for growing your account but it’s important to show your fans that you are there for them! Don’t let comments or questions go unanswered, you never know who may book your services from social media!
