How to Post Clients for their Boudoir Session
Get to Know Your Client
The foundation of a successful boudoir session begins with understanding your client. Take the time to learn about their personality, comfort levels, and what they wish to convey through their images. This knowledge helps craft poses that reflect their true essence and make them feel seen and celebrated.
Choose the Right Location
A location that complements your client’s style and the desired mood of the session can significantly enhance the posing process. Whether it’s the opulent surroundings of a luxury hotel suite or the intimate charm of their own bedroom, the right setting provides a backdrop that inspires elegant and natural poses.
At Ma Cherie Studios, we offer sessions in our studio and various travel locations throughout the year.
Help with Posing
Many clients may feel unsure about how to pose. Offer clear, gentle guidance to help them find positions that highlight their best features. Start with classic poses—such as lying on their side or sitting with their legs extended—and gradually introduce more dynamic movements. Encourage slight adjustments to the head, hands, and feet to create graceful lines and flattering angles.
When posing our clients, I always do the pose myself to show them exactly what to do and help them make adjustments once they’re in the pose. Through Boudie Akademie, you can learn all of my posing tips and tricks! I don’t hold ANYTHiNG back and I take you along on six different shoots to help you learn by example.
Capture the Details
Luxury is often found in the details. Focus on close-ups that capture the delicate lace of lingerie, the curve of a shoulder, or the sparkle in the client’s eyes. These intimate details add depth and richness to the images, telling a more complete and captivating story.
Create a Relaxed Atmosphere
A relaxed client is a confident client. Set the tone with soothing music, comfortable temperatures, and a warm, encouraging demeanor. The more at ease your client feels, the more natural and alluring their poses will be.
Embrace the Unexpected
Sometimes, the most stunning shots come from unplanned moments. Encourage your client to move freely between poses and capture those spontaneous expressions and movements. These candid shots often exude an effortless elegance and authenticity that posed shots might not.
Communicate and Reassure
Throughout the session, maintain open communication with your client. Offer positive reinforcement and gentle corrections as needed. Reassure them that they are doing beautifully, and provide feedback on how different poses are translating on camera. This constant dialogue helps build trust and confidence.
Have Fun!
Finally, remember that a boudoir session should be an enjoyable experience. Infuse the session with moments of lightness and fun. Encourage laughter and playfulness, as these emotions translate into images filled with genuine joy and beauty. When your client is having fun, it will reflect in their poses and expressions, resulting in photos that are both luxurious and sexy.
