Tips To Organize Your Business Better
Staying organized in your business is so important! Not only does it keep you staying productive but it makes you look more professional to your clients. You never want to tell a client that you lost their images or lost their contract somewhere along the way. Staying organized will keep you on track and benefit you and your business’s success. Here are a few of my favorite tips to help keep your business organized.
Dedicated Office Space
If you work from home, having a dedicated office space just for your business is so important. Whether it is just a section in your living room or a whole separate room, it’s important to dedicate a space for your work. You don’t want to get sucked into working from the couch or working from bed because you may notice that you just aren’t as productive as you could be. Having a set space will make you feel like you are going to work instead of just hanging from home. Make the space your own! Decorate it like you would decorate your work office and make it feel like a space you can crush your goals in. Keeping all of your work things in one place will not only make life easier but will keep you way more organized as well.
Since tax season is here, I always recommend keeping your receipts and finance records organized throughout the year. It can be a nightmare when you don’t know where everything is and you have to rip your office apart to find things. If you can stay on track with it all yea long, it will keep that aspect of your work life so much easier and more professional. Whether you want to hire someone to do it for you or tackle it yourself with a spreadsheet to track your data, find a way that works well for you and stick with it.
Creating a work flow is so important! It’s important to know your process and what steps to take for each clients along the way. It will take out and second guessing or questions you may have of what to do next. Eventually, you can even automate parts of your workflow to make it even easier for you. Be sure to keep important information in easy to access places and always keep it in the same place so you are not wasting time trying to search for things time and time again. I love creating task lists in Trello for each client so that I know what I have accomplished and what still needs to be done. It keeps me organized and ensures that I don’t miss anything along the way.
Automation will not only keep your organized but will free up so much of your time later down the road. You can automate just about anything these days, from social media posts to even sending emails. I like to batch work this and take one day a week or month and try to schedule out as many things as possible. It seems like it takes less time to do this because you don’t have to stop what you are doing everyday to switch tasks and refocus. Being able to schedule things will free up some time in your day to day to do lists to allow you to work on something new!
When it comes to staying organized, there are so many different tips and tricks out there. Find a few that really work well for you and just go for it! Don’t be afraid to try something new or tweak something to fit your brand a bit better. Don’t let what other people do to stay organized sway you out of the ways that work for you!
